Vigilante 8 returns on XBLA tomorrow

Classic vehicular combat title Vigilante 8 is set to hit the scenes again tomorrow with the release of Vigilante 8: Arcade on the Xbox Live Arcade. Rather than re-release the PS1/N64 title, or it's PS1/N64/DC sequel, start-up studio Isopod Labs and Activision have 're-imagined' the game, to take advantage of the current generation of technology. Pleasingly, local split-screen action will still play a part (sadly the same could not be said for many racing game this generation), though now you will also be able to compete online.

The self-funded developer has also claimed it will feature five newly designed and "highly interactive" arenas, eight '70s vehicles, characters and weapons from the original game, user-customisable car paint colour, advanced physics, and a single player mode against AI-controlled players. For those without friends, or the internet. They also make mention of the usual XBLA features of Leaderboards and Achievements, as well as the promise of future DLC. We suspect more arenas might play a part there.

The game will be available to trial or buy tomorrow, for 800 Microsoft Points (£6.80).
