Japanese publishers Capcom and Namco Bandai have got together to reveal Street Fighter X Tekken and Tekken X Street Fighter, two fighting games that will see the companies' own beat-'em-ups cross over for the first time. Street Fighter X Tekken will be in the style of Capcom's fighter, but featuring Tekken characters and some adjustments to fight in with the series, while Tekken X Street Fighter will do the opposite. Both games are scheduled for the Xbox 360 and PS3, but there's no word on a release date yet, with 2012 rumoured.

Street Fighter X Tekken will be using the same technology and art tyle as the excellent Street Fighter IV and Super Street Fighter IV. Tekken characters, such as Kazuya Mishima and Nina Williams, will make the transition and while they have been re-imagined using the art style of the Capcom titles they will retain their unique characteristics and signature moves. The other main difference between the two is that the Street Fighter edition will reain its 2D gameplay and 3D character models, while the Tekken edition will be more 3D in line with the series' regular gameplay. Street Fighter X Tekken will also include Tag Team combat, as in Tekken Tag Tournament, although we don't know yet whether this feature is in Tekken X Street Fighter.

We hope to bring you more on both of the games soon.
