Tecmo and Koei, two big name Japanese publishers, have recently tied up together, and have now confirmed their merger in Europe. Forming Tecmo Koei Europe the company is already planning a big assault on the territory with Undead Knights on the PSP, Quantum Theory on the PS3, Warriors: Legends of Troy on PS3 and 360, and Trinity: Souls of Zill O'll on the PS3 coming in the months ahead.
However, the first title to come out under the new banner will be one of the most anticipated, Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2. The PlayStation 3 exclusive builds upon Ninja Gaiden 2 which was released on the 360 last year in quite a significant way. There's three new playable characters; Rachel from the original game, Ayana from another big Tecmo series, Dead or Alive, and Momiji from DS title Ninja Gaiden Dragon Sword. There's also some new enemies and improved visuals designed for 1080p. Of most interest is the addition of online co-op, a first for the series. Two players can link up online, complete with voice chat, to take on over 30 special missions with rankings from these posted online. There's also the promise of Trophy support to ensure PS3 owners are rather happy with this new edition.
Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 is due out this Autumn, and we have some new screenshots from the Tecmo Koei Europe launch below:
