In a surprising move, Japanese publisher Square Enix - known for its incredibly successfully RPGs - have linked up with American developer Gas Powered Games to publisher Supreme Commander 2, a sequel to the award-winning real-time strategy title of 2007.
Apparently these are the companies first steps towards increasing its western development efforts; Square Enix previously worked exclusively with Japanese development companies. It's also notable that the company is usually involved in console products (though there was an Xbox 360 release of SupCom alongside the PC version its known for), and will also be the company's first foray into the real-time strategy genre.
There's no more details about the game yet, but Square Enix's involvement is newsworthy in itself. They do, however, promise more information on the anticipated sequel soon.
