As if all the E3 conferences and broadcasts weren't enough, Nintendo broadcast another Nintendo Direct video this week which revealed plans to launch the 3DS XL, a new 3DS model with 90% larger screens and twice the battery life of the existing model. It's set to go on sale across Europe on July 28th and will be available in Silver + Black, Red + Black or Blue + Black combinations with a new form factor. It will also include a 4GB SD card.

Nintendo of Europe have yet to reveal a price for the new model, although they have suggested that UK stores can set their own price as they did with the original 3DS. At the moment that seems to range between £180-£210 but they'll probably conform over time. Nintendo themselves aim to keep the price down by not including an AC adapter as it will continue to be compatible with the adapter that was with the DSi or previous 3DS. Also in the Nintendo Direct video was the reveal of New Art Academy, a 3DS update for the popular DS art programme.
