Nintendo announces 3DS - new 3D handheld

Out of the blue this morning came news from Nintendo. Not only are they working on a new handheld (which we all suspected) but that it will be a 3D handheld, dubbed the Nintendo 3DS. Details are thin at the moment, with the big reveal at E3 this June, but we do know that it won't require glasses to achieve the 3D effect. This has led to speculation about the screen technology that will be used, and also ties in with a previous deal between Nintendo and nVidia which should see much souped-up graphics capability in the new machine.
We've post you more details on the Nintendo 3DS once we have them, but don't be surprised if you don't hear anything more (officially that is) until June.
