US DVD rental and video streaming Netflix has finally arrived in the UK having talked about doing so for quite some time. As expected, it's a streaming-only service which is available right now on your PC, but the company has also been quick to roll out applications for the games consoles. Netflix appeared on the PS3's XMB interface over the weekend, allowing you to download their app, and now the service is live, actually use it. On Monday afternoon Netflix also appeared front and centre on the "apps" section on the new Xbox 360 Dashboard, allowing you to download it, and start using the streaming service with Kinect. There's also a Channel available for the Wii on the Wii Shop Channel. Hopefully the service will match the 3DS support that has come out in the US soon, and maybe even launch with PS Vita next month.

There is content from a variety of sources, including movie studios and TV partners such as BBC Worldwide. Having said that, good content does seem to be a little thin on the ground, so you may want to give the month's free trial a go before committing to the £5.99/month unlimited streaming package. Of course, Netflix's biggest UK rival (and current market champion) is Amazon's Lovefilm, which reacted to the launch by announcing a reduction in their basic pack with unlimited streaming for £4.99 - £1 less than Netflix. Let the competition begin!
