Eidos and IO Interactive's third-person shooter Kane & Lynch: Dead Men is to receive four new downloadable maps for the Fragile Alliance multiplayer mode next week.
On April 17th (that's next Thursday), all four of the new maps will be released in a pack called "The Dope Bag" on both the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. Each of the four maps features its own unique scenario for the Fragile Alliance mode that makes up the game's online multiplayer functionality. It's based on greed, betrayal and revenge and sees up to eight of you team up against the police or other enemies to take on a situation, with the objective of getting the bounty and getting away. The winner is the player who escapes with the most loot, so taking out your own teammates is an option, though revenge will surely be on their cards if you do. You could, of course, just play nice and share the goods. The new scenarios are: taking on the local dope dealers and the Russian mafia at an LA construction site, clashing with the Yakuza in Tokyo, raiding a drug baron's mansion in a Venezuelan jungle, and ambushing General Fuentes' military convoy in the streets of Havana.
"With Fragile Alliance we set out to offer gamers a new experience in co-op multiplayer, giving players the choice to work as a team or backstab their teammates and work for themselves at any moment," said Kim Krogh, Lead Game Designer, IO Interactive. "The response to Fragile Alliance has been fantastic and these new maps will serve to grow the Fragile Alliance online community even further."
One of the best parts of the new content is that it will be available for free, trumping the likes of Stranglehold with their expensive and relatively lightweight map packs. It'll be available on both Xbox Live and the PlayStation Network on the same day, though there's no word over PC content, including whether it will even be released. We'll also be bringing you a review of the PS3 version of Kane & Lynch: Dead Men, featuring the new content, soon.
