Ikaruga finally arrives on XBLA

Many people have been waiting some time for it since it was confirmed for the service many moons ago, but now the classic Dreamcast shooter Ikaruga is now available on the Xbox Live Marketplace. For 800 Microsoft Points (£6.80) you can own thish highly-praised title, developed by the legendary Treasure. The shoot-'em-up genre is full of many mediocre titles, many of them clones of the likes of Contra and R-Type, but Ikaruga offers fresh ideas that are still appealing years later. Of course, you now get HD graphics and online 2 player multiplayer via Xbox Live, as well as Achievements which give you more to aim for than high-scores, which themselves can now be compared with others worldwide. It's not perfect, and can be frustrating at times, but as usual there's a free demo to sample the title and we certainly think it's worth checking out.
