Not content with just the "Summer of Arcade" annual promotion, Microsoft are also continuing with the end-of-Winter XBLA event called "House Party" which starts on 15th February. Like the Summer of Arcade it features back-to-back releases (one per week), and the titles are picked for their quality as showcases to the platform. It's unclear if/when some of the third-party releases below will arrive on the PS3, but it's likely they are exclusive to the Xbox 360 for at least a week or two.
A highlight of the promo is Microsoft's own Alan Wake's American Nightmare, which is a new stand-alone story in the Alan Wake series (well, it's only one game so far, but I expect it is becoming a series). Alan must fight the "herald of darkness", Mr Scratch, in some Arizona locations - presumably at night to build the tension of this thriller. It will be joined by Ubisoft's eagerly awaited I Am Alive which is set one year are a cataclysmic event wiped out most of human civilization. You play a man struggling for survival, searching for his long-lost wife and daughter. You need to search the dustry streets and climb the remains of last-standing skyscrapers to reach breathable air and find untouched resources.
Also coming to "House Party" is THQ's Nexuiz, an arena-based first-person shooter where you can alter the rules of the match and laws of physics on the fly. It's a sci-fi futuristic shooter which will hopefully bring original ideas to a crowded genre. And lastly there's EA's Warp. It's a puzzle-based stealth action game where you play as an alien called Zero who is trying to escape capture using his abilities to warp, frag, echo, swap and launch. The last of the titles arrives on 7th March.
