Last year it brought us treats from around the world we hadn't experienced before, so we welcome back the Hanabi Festival to the Virtual Console. The Wii download service is again going to charge you 100 extra Wii Points to enjoy rare releases from the US and Japan, but on the other hand, at least we're finally getting to play games that were never previously released in Europe.
But we're not digging through Nintendo's catalogue, it's SEGA and Hudson involved. This means Columns III: Revenge of Columsn from the Mega Drive is one of the releases. Yes, you can play more of what you've played before, but now at the higher 900 Wii Points (£6.30) price. More excitingly is Gradius II Gofer No Yabou from the Turbografx era, coming in at 700 Wii Points £6.30. Also from the same platform is Final Soldier, and this means it's available at the same price too. The first of the three is based on the US version, while the latter two were previously Japan-only titles.
