The Xbox 360 update which brings a whole bunch of new features to the console has gone live today. Facebook, Twitter, and last.fm are now available on the console - but only for Xbox Live Gold members. The social media services are free to use for Gold subscribers, although you'll need a separate last.fm subscription for ad-free music streaming. Also arriving in the update is the new Zune Marketplace, bringing with it the first appearance of the Zune brand in Europe. The Zune Marketplace on the Xbox 360 is a replacement for the existing Video Marketplace store for renting films. However, it's not just a rebrand as the new service also offers 1080p instant streaming videos, saving on those hefty downloads.

You can get the update for free next time you boot up you Xbox 360 while connected to the internet.
