EA reveals Medal of Honor reboot

The series that spawned Call of Duty is looking to emulate it. At least, that's the impression we get from EA's announcement of a rebooted Medal of Honor. The series, which launched 10 years ago, started as a World War 2 FPS, but is now doing a Modern Warfare and shirting to the present day. In fact, it's a bit more present day than Modern Warfare as it takes us to "war-torn Afghanistan" - which is pretty much how I'd describe the country right now.

The story revolves around the Tier 1 Operator, a "relatively unknown entity directly under the National Command Authority who takes on missions no one else can handle". The development team has been working closely with Tier 1 Operators from the US Special Operations Community since they began development to help with the realism of the new title. Thus Medal of Honor will be inspired by real events. The single player component is being produced by a team over at EALA, while the Battlefield guys over at EA DICE will handle the multiplayer experience.

There's no screenshots yet, though we do know the game is set for release in 2010 on PC, Xbox 360 and PS3.
