The Summer of Arcade begins this week, and starts off with quite a delight. Playdead's excellent Limbo is the XBLA game this week, available for 1200 Microsoft Points (£10.80). The puzzle-platformers is well worth checking out, and we'll have a review online soon, but in the meantime you can try out the free trial version and see whether this dark game is too scary for you.

Over on the PlayStation Store there's not really much in the way of new games; for the PS3 there's a new episode of the latest Sam and Max seasons, while the PSP gets the handheld version of the multidirectional shooter Gravity Crash. This was originally a PS3 PSN title, with the PSP version to be released much closer to its full-size cousin, but the developer took on board feedback, and now you can finally get the PSP edition for £6.29. The PS3 does, however, get the Kane & Lynch 2: Dog Days demo, finally giving owners of Sony's platform a chance to try out a demo that was previously available on the Xbox 360, albeit (curiously) in limited numbers. The PS3 demo of Square Enix's third-person shooter offers up single player and multiplayer action, and was available first to PlayStation Plus subscribers on Monday, but now all Europeans can pick it up from the PlayStation Store for free. We've also talked about the Xbox 360 version in our latest podcast. Also on both the PS3 and PSP are two new minis; Young Thor for £3.99 and Arctic Adventures: Polar's Puzzles for £3.49. Both platforms also share the honour of new content for their respective versions for LittleBigPlanet.

Over on the Wii Shop Channel you have two new WiiWare games; Arcade Sports and Girlfriends Forever: Magic Skate, both for 800 Wii Points (£5.60). For the same price you can also get Sunsoft's SNES platformer Aero the Acrobat from the Virtual Console. Over on DSiWare there's World Poker Tour: Texas Hold 'Em and Crazy Pinball for 500 DSi Points (£4.50) apiece. Probably the most interesting DSiWare game this week is only 200 DSi Points (£1.80); Pop Island - Paperfield is a short follow-up to the multiplayer game Pop Island, which is a standable game, but you get some content from the first one if you own it on your DSi.
