The Summer of Arcade continues on the Xbox Live Arcade this week with Hydro Thunder Hurricane, a follow up to the Arcade and Dreamcast game Hydro Thunder. Developed by Vector Unit, the powerboat racing game has been brought into the modern era with HD visuals, 8-player online play over Xbox Live, and a new physics engine. The sequel is available for 1200 Microsoft Points (£10.80), with the usual free trial available. Keeping with the summer theme is a free demo for Summer Challenge, an athletics game, available to download on Xbox Live now.
Over on the PlayStation Store there's a lack of a particularly stand out release this week. Well, Earthworm Jim HD is rather good, but as it's already been out on the Xbox 360 about a month the fanfare is gone. It's still worth checking out for £7.99, though, with a free trial version available. Also for PS3 this week is PSN-exclusive Premier Manager, a new football management game for £13.99. On the PSP there's a couple of Harry Potter game for £15.99 each. And coming to both are three new minis each costing £2.49 (Brick Breaker, Labyrinth, and Tetraminos), and two PSone games for £3.99 a piece (Rayman 2 and Pong). Curiously a demo for excellent PSN-exclusive Flower has appeared on the PlayStation Store, well over a year after the game arrived on the PS3, while the PSP gets a free demo of Worms: Battle Island. There's some new DLC on the PS3 but nothing worth highlighting here - if you're looking for new content we recommend a browse on the Store itself.
Coming to both the Xbox 360 and PS3 in the past week - I'm sure many of you will be pleased to hear - is a demo of Madden NFL 11, the only game series that can eclipse FIFA on the global stage. This will likely be a very big seller Stateside once more, and you can check out why the Americans love it in this free sample.
There's no Virtual Consoles in the latest Nintendo Stores update, but there is an interesting WiiWare release in Dive: The Medes Islands Secret which appears to be an interesting underwater game for 1000 Wii Points (£7). Family Pirate Party is probably not as interesting, but it is only 500 Wii Points (£3.50). Over on the DSi there's Crystal Monsters, Mega Words, and Puffins: Let's Race! for 500 DSi Points each (£4.50).
And that's your lot for another week. We'll be back on schedule this week with another DLC digest in a few days' time.
