Charts Update: FIFA reigns supreme again, Just Dance 3 on the rise

It's the fourth week in a row for EA's FIFA 12 at the Number 1 spot in the all-format charts, but it's facing a challenge from Ubisoft's Just Dance 3 which climbs two places to second spot this week. Bethesda's RPG The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is also up two places to third. This means that the FPS duo of Battlefield 3 and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 have moved down two places to fourth and fifth, leaving us with the same games in the Top 5 as last week, but in a different order.

An interesting development is that the two Zumba Fitness titles are now back-to-back in the charts, with the original remaining in sixth, followed by the sequel which has risen 5 places this week. It's unusual to have two games in the same series in the Top 10 at all, let alone right next to each other. Their recent success is likely part of the annual January post-Christmas fitness drive (which drops off in Februrary...), which also sees Wii Fit Plus rise from 27th to 20th (having previously been outside the Top 40 for months), and an impressive rise from nowhere to 12th for Ubisoft's Your Shape: Fitness Evolved 2012. It hasn't appeared in the top 40 since its launch at the end of last year, so we're counting it as a new entry here. It's an impressive jump for the game, and therefore it's certainly this week's highest climber.

EA's MMO Star Wars: The Old Republic has avoided dropping out of the Top 40 and has actually risen 5 places to 34th, while the excellent Deus Ex: Human Revolution returns in 39th. It's also one of our games of the year, as are RAGE (8th) and Rayman Origins (17th).

Last week's release of SEGA's Crush3d failed to make the Top 40, but then despite seemingly strong sales over Christmas, that's true of all third-party 3DS games at the moment. This Friday is rather dead on the release schedule, so don't expect much change next week, but after that Capcom's 3DS exclusive Resident Evil: Revelations stands a chance of being a strong new entry for the handheld.
