Indie developer NinjaBee have announced an update for their Xbox Live Arcade title Band of Bugs that will introduce Avatar support. Having created the first fully-enabled Avatar game for XBLA, A Kingdom for Keflings, they will now be using their expertise to enhance their previous title for free. The Avatar support will allow you to replace the original story's hero, Maal, with your own NXE Avatar as you play through the main story mode. You'll also be able to engage in hand-to-hand combat and spell casting in the eight-player Spider Hunter mode where you can battle friends and others (each with their own Avatars) over Xbox Live. It's arriving on July 8th.

At the same time the developer is releasing DLC for the title too; "The Tales of Kaloki" is based on NinjaBee's first XBLA game, Outpost Kaloki X. Set in space, it uses the basic mechanics of Band of Bugs but adds a new tile set, new characters, new story, new skills, new strategy, new attacks and new abilities. It'll cost 240 Microsoft Points (around £2), and is also arriving on July 8th.

To complete the celebration of new content, a premium theme will also be released for your Xbox 360 dashboard. Band of Bugs is available now on the Xbox Live Arcade for 800 MSP (£6.80).
