Gamescom coverage

Welcome to our Gamescom coverage on

Gamescom is Europe's answer to E3. In fact, it's not just that, it's actually the world's biggest gaming event, thanks to allowing over a quarter of a million members of the public through the doors each year. It takes place in Cologne, Germany with a large range of third-party publishers and indie developers present. The PS4 and Xbox One are now firmly established, so Sony and Microsoft will be using the event to make their next big push in the run up to the all-important Christmas season. Both companies have press events on the Tuesday, with announcements promised. Nintendo are attending too, and will be hoping to build on the momentum of the recent Mario Kart 8 release which has helped shift Wii U consoles in a way nothing else on the platform has managed to do so far. The event is located at the Koelnmesse from August 13-17th (with conferences on the 12th), and here on we'll be putting up coverage across the week.

We'll be providing news as and when we can, but the main focus will be on providing hands-on previews of a wide range of upcoming games. You'll be able to find what we have on offer here in our dedicated Gamescom section, and we also recommend following our "MegaFeed" RSS feed or our Twitter feed, which will both have all the news and previews, along with other content on the site.
